Helen Cassano was born in London and grew up in Madrid. She studied musicology at Royal Holloway, University of London, and moved to Belgium in 2002.  She then pursued her studies at the Royal Conservatoires of Brussels and The Hague and the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, and obtained Masters degrees in Singing, Chamber Music and Choral conducting. Helen founded the Brussels Chamber Choir in 2007 with her husband, Jan Moeyaert, and some friends from the Brussels conservatoire. As a professional choral and ensemble singer, Helen performs with top-level groups such as the Flemish Radio Choir and the Huelgas ensemble, with whom she performs widely across Europe and has recorded many award-winning CDs. Since 2021 she also conducts the Youth Choirs of Flagey Academy.
