About the event
Join the Brussels Chamber Choir in June for two performances of highly contrasting Early Music masterpieces. The Miserere by Gregorio Allegri was written for the Sistine chapel in the 1630s in a style halfway between the Renaissance and the Baroque. With its epic high C, it is both easily recognised and dazzlingly beautiful. Written about 100 years later in Protestant Germany,
J.S. Bach’s inspiring motet Jesu meine Freude offers a striking contrast with its fast and lively music, and its joyous perspective on life and death.
